PEOPLE MAY NOT REMEMBER EXACTLY WHAT YOU DID, OR WHAT YOU SAID, BUT THEY WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HOW YOU MADE THEM FEEL!
I was thinking about this as another year lies ahead of us. Every year we get a fresh start. We plan to do better. What have you resolved to do or not do? Stop smoking. Quit eating so much. Get into shape. Lose the weight. All of those things are good and fine and I hope you will do them all.
This year I was walking and wondering, “God what would you like for me to resolve to do?”
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?
Three things. Do justice. Love kindness and walk humbly. How will that affect my resolutions? I think it shifts the focus. Most resolutions are self-oriented. Look better. Feel better. Etc . . . Instead of trying to be different why don’t you resolve to make a difference.
Jesus told the story of the good Samaritan. A man was beaten and left for dead. Two preachers came along and swung wide. Then the Samaritan came up and saw him and took compassion for him, bandaged him and took care of him. Who was the neighbor?
Three resolutions that will make a difference.
1. Resolve to be more available
What keeps us from being available? We are busy, we get caught up in our own busyness. An agenda gets set, and we don’t want to stray from the original plan.
2.Resolve to be more aware.
We need to see and feel the needs around us. Be in tune with what the Lord has for us to do.
3.Resolve to take responsibility.
We all have the ability to be difference makers. The certain Samaritan didn’t call up the pastor or some professional he took responsibility.
That’s your calling.
