Nothing stays empty not even the heart
For example, Water will always seek its own level.
I’m going to get killed for this one, but it’s too good. One summer, years ago when we were young. All the boys were little. We got one of those backyard pools with the plastic sides that had an inflatable ring at the top. Easy, right? Wrong! It was about 10 feet across. Not too big, just the perfect size for little boys. The problem was you had to get it perfectly level. If you didn’t the water would overpower one of the sides and it would collapse. Impossible. I worked a whole day. I had strings on ropes. Brought in sand like they suggested, you name it. Then I went and got a level. It was only 4 foot. I could only level part at a time, so, not level. I needed 10 foot level. I finally gave up and started filling it. Sure enough it wasn’t level. As the water went up the side was under pressure. I got the level and went to see where it was off. I stood in the middle of the pool and was just about to level the water. Then I realized, “idiot, the top of the water is always going to be level.”
At just that moment Amy came outside. She looked at it and said, “It’s not level.’
I said, “Honey, it is level.”
“No its not I can tell.”
I said ” it is too. If I put this level on this water it will be level.”
Amy said “No it won’t’.”
I said, “I’ll bet a lunch on it. If I’m right I get to pick. You’re right I’ll take you to dinner.”
She said ” you’re on!”
I smiled and put the level on top of the water. Amy still didn’t get it yet, “I can’t believe it, that doesn’t look level!”
Water is always level because water always seeks its level. Water will always fill voids. Air is the same way. There are few things nature despises more than a vacuum. Something will fill it.
Spiritually speaking the same is true. When you clean out an area of your life you have to fill it with something else or your life will revert to the same state that it was. Nothing stays empty, not even a heart.
God wants you to be full of his spirit
Ephesians 5:18 and do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
God wants you to be full of his glory
Psalms 72:19 And blessed be his glorious name for ever: and let the whole earth be filled with his glory; Amen, and Amen.
It’s not enough to be healed of things and empty your spiritual attic and closets. You must fill them up with something more meaningful.
